Projecting that pace across the full term estimates your end-of-lease odometer. Worked Example

A 36-month lease at 12,000 mi/yr allows 36,000 total miles, or 1,000/month. After 10 months the odometer shows 14,000 miles - allowed to date is 10,000, so you are 4,000 over pace. Pace = 1,400 mi/month, projecting 50,400 by lease end: 14,400 overage miles × $0.25 = a $3,600 penalty.
