How is a fantasy trade compared?

Sum each side's player values from a chosen value source, then compare totals. The side with higher combined value "wins" the trade on paper, with a net edge in points or percent.

How is the net edge percentage calculated?

Net edge % = (higher side total − lower side total) ÷ lower side total × 100. A 320 vs 280 trade is about a 14% edge to the 320 side before considering team needs.

Does the higher value always win the trade?

Not necessarily. Value charts ignore positional scarcity, your roster construction, bye weeks, injuries and league scoring. Use the number as a starting point, not a verdict.

Why do value sources disagree?

Different models weight recent form, age, schedule and projections differently. Comparing the same source on both sides keeps it consistent; cross-checking two sources reveals how subjective values are.

In fantasy sports, every player carries a trade value - a single number from a ranking source or trade chart that estimates their worth for the rest of the season. A trade is "fair" when the two sides' total values are close; a large gap suggests one manager is giving up more than they receive. But fairness in totals is only the starting point of a good trade analysis, not the conclusion: the best deals are often slightly "unfair" on paper because they convert surplus depth into a starting−lineup upgrade, or consolidate two mid−tier players into one elite player who actually scores every week. This calculator sums the values you give for each side, reports the net edge in raw points and as a percentage of the larger side, and labels how lopsided the deal is. It compares totals only; it does not judge roster fit, positional need, bye−week stacking, injury risk, or scoring format, all of which you must weigh yourself before accepting or rejecting any offer the numbers appear to endorse.

Formula / Method

Sum of Side A = Σ (values you list for A). Sum of Side B = Σ (values for B). Net edge = Sum A − Sum B; a positive net favors A, negative favors B. Percentage difference = |net| ÷ max(Sum A, Sum B) × 100, expressing the gap relative to the bigger package so a 10−point gap on small players reads as larger than on stars. Bands: under ~5% is essentially fair, ~5–15% is a slight edge, and above ~15% is a clearly lopsided trade in favor of the higher−total side.

Worked Example

Side A offers two players worth 32 and 18, totaling 50. Side B offers 40 and 6, totaling 46. Net edge = 50 − 46 = +4 in favor of Side A. Percentage difference = 4 ÷ max(50, 46) × 100 = 4 ÷ 50 = 8.0%, a slight edge to A - close enough that roster needs or upside could justify it for B. Had Side B totaled only 38, the net would be +12 and the percentage 24%, a clearly lopsided deal that B should generally decline unless it fills a critical gap.

Why percentage and not just points?
