The tool computes the absolute span between them - order does not matter - and shows it simultaneously in total days, weeks, approximate months, approximate years, total hours, and total minutes. The day count is always exact; months and years use average constants because calendar months range from 28 to 31 days and years range from 365 to 366 days.

Formula

The raw gap is the absolute difference of the two timestamps in milliseconds. Then: total days = ⌊ms ÷ 86,400,000⌋, weeks = ⌊days ÷ 7⌋, months ≈ ⌊days ÷ 30.44⌋, years ≈ ⌊days ÷ 365.25⌋, hours = ⌊ms ÷ 3,600,000⌋, and minutes = ⌊ms ÷ 60,000⌋. The constants 30.44 and 365.25 are average month and year lengths that account for leap years.

Worked Example

From 2024-01-01 to 2024-12-31: the gap is 365 days. Weeks = ⌊365 ÷ 7⌋ = 52, months ≈ ⌊365 ÷ 30.44⌋ = 11 (a partial year), years ≈ ⌊365 ÷ 365.25⌋ = 0 (does not reach one full average year), total hours = 365 × 24 = 8,760, total minutes = 525,600. Note that the same date range has 0 approximate years because 365 days is slightly less than the 365.25-day average year.

Common Mistakes

Expecting exact calendar months - this tool uses a 30.44-day average month, not calendar months.
