Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate fragrance oil and carrier amounts?
Fragrance oil = target % × final volume; carrier = final volume − fragrance. For 30 ml of eau de parfum at 20%: 30 × 0.20 = 6 ml oil and 24 ml carrier (perfumer's alcohol).
What are typical concentration ranges?
Parfum/extrait 20–40% fragrance oil, eau de parfum 15–20%, eau de toilette 5–15%, eau de cologne 2–5%, body splash 1–3%. Higher percentages last longer and project more strongly.
How do I convert ounces to milliliters?
1 US fl oz = 29.5735 ml. So a 1 oz (30 ml) bottle of 15% EDT contains 30 × 0.15 = 4.5 ml of fragrance oil and 25.5 ml of carrier.
How long should I let the blend mature?
Let the finished dilution rest at least 2–4 weeks (some perfumers prefer 4–6) in a cool, dark place. Maceration smooths out the alcoholic bite and lets top, middle and base notes harmonize.
