Find the golden hour and blue hour times for any location and date

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate are these times?

They come from a simplified solar model that is good to within a few minutes for most locations. Near the poles or twilight edges it falls back to approximate windows around sunrise and sunset.

What is golden hour?

It is the period when the sun is low, here from the horizon up to about 6 degrees elevation, producing warm, soft light prized for portraits and landscapes.

What is blue hour?

It is the civil-twilight band just before sunrise and after sunset (sun about 6 to 4 degrees below the horizon) when the sky turns deep blue, ideal for cityscapes.

Do I include daylight saving time in the offset?

Yes. Enter your actual UTC offset for that date, adding an hour during daylight saving time, so the clock times come out correctly.
