Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between RAW and JPEG?
RAW is the unprocessed sensor data with all bit-depth and dynamic range. JPEG is an 8-bit lossy compressed file ready to share. RAW preserves more editing latitude but takes much more space.
How many megapixels for prints?
300 DPI standard: a 24 MP image (6000x4000) prints at 20x13 inches sharp. For wall-size prints viewed from distance, 100-150 DPI works.
Does aspect ratio matter for file size?
Only the pixel count matters. A 6000x4000 image and a 4900x4900 image with the same megapixels are the same file size.
