Tax Refund Estimator

Estimate your 2025 federal tax refund or balance due using income, filing status, withholding, and common deductions to plan ahead.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the refund estimator work?

It subtracts the 2025 standard deduction from your income, applies the federal tax brackets, subtracts up to 2,000 dollars per qualifying child, and compares the result to your tax withheld to estimate a refund or amount owed.

Why might my actual refund differ?

This simplified model leaves out itemized deductions, education and energy credits, the Earned Income Tax Credit, and self-employment tax, any of which can change your real refund.

Is the Child Tax Credit fully refundable?

Only part of it is. This tool applies the credit against tax owed and does not model the refundable Additional Child Tax Credit limit.

Can I file using this number?

No. It is a general 2025 estimate and is not tax, financial, or legal advice. File using your actual documents or consult a tax professional.
