Golf Handicap Calculator

Calculate your Handicap Index from score differentials using the best 8 of your last 20 rounds

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a score differential calculated (WHS)?

Differential = (adjusted gross score − course rating) × 113 ÷ slope rating. The 113 is the standard slope; this normalizes scores across courses of different difficulty.

How is the Handicap Index determined?

It is the average of the best 8 differentials from your most recent 20 scores, multiplied by 0.96. With fewer than 20 rounds, adjusted formulas use fewer of your best differentials.

What is a Course Handicap?

Course Handicap = Handicap Index × (slope ÷ 113) + (course rating − par). It converts your portable index into strokes received on the specific tees you are playing that day.

Why use slope and rating?

Course rating reflects difficulty for a scratch golfer; slope reflects relative difficulty for a bogey golfer. Together they let players of different skill compete fairly across varied courses.
