Frequently Asked Questions
How many bricks per square foot?
About 7 modular bricks per square foot with 3/8 inch joints. Queen size: 5.6 per sq ft. King size: 5.8. Standard 8x2.25: 6.8 per sq ft. Adjust by mortar joint thickness - thicker joints mean fewer bricks per area.
What is the difference between modular and standard brick?
Modular bricks (7.625 x 2.25 x 3.625 in) are sized so 3 brick heights plus mortar equal 8 inches - the standard CMU block height. Standard bricks (8 x 2.25 x 3.75) do not match this module. Use modular for veneer over block or to coordinate course heights.
How much mortar do I need per brick?
About 7 cubic feet per 1,000 modular bricks at standard 3/8 inch joints. That equals 5-7 bags of 80lb pre-mixed mortar. Double the mortar for double-wythe walls (the collar joint between wythes consumes more mortar).
