Frequently Asked Questions
How is runtime estimated?
The tool converts capacity to watt-hours, multiplies by the usable depth of discharge and the inverter efficiency, then divides by the load in watts to give hours of runtime.
What depth of discharge should I use?
Lithium batteries tolerate 80 to 100 percent. Lead-acid batteries last far longer if you stop discharging near 50 percent.
Do I need to enter inverter efficiency?
Only for AC loads run through an inverter. For direct DC loads you can set efficiency to 100 percent.
Why is my real runtime shorter than calculated?
Temperature, battery age, and high discharge rates all reduce usable capacity, so treat the result as an optimistic estimate.
