Frequently Asked Questions
How is a Pokémon stat calculated (Gen III+)?
HP = floor((2×Base + IV + floor(EV÷4)) × Level ÷ 100) + Level + 10. Other stats: floor(((2×Base + IV + floor(EV÷4)) × Level ÷ 100 + 5) × Nature). IVs range 0–31.
How do I find an IV from a known stat?
Rearrange the stat formula with base stat, level, EVs and nature known, then solve for IV. Often a range of IVs maps to the same displayed stat, so check at multiple levels to narrow it.
How much does a nature change a stat?
A beneficial nature multiplies one stat by 1.1 and a hindering nature by 0.9 (HP is never affected). At higher levels this 10% swing can equal several IVs worth of difference.
Why are level 50 and 100 best for IV checking?
Higher levels magnify the per-IV difference, so each IV step changes the visible stat by a larger, easier-to-read amount. Level 100 (or competitive level 50) gives the cleanest IV reads.
