Frequently Asked Questions
How much flat fabric do pleated curtains need?
Flat width = window width × fullness ratio + returns + side hems. For a 60 in window with 2× fullness, 3 in returns each side and 1.5 in side hems: 60 × 2 + 6 + 3 = 129 in of fabric across the pair (or per panel for a single).
What fullness ratio should I use?
Sheers and lightweight fabrics: 2.5–3× window width for soft drape. Medium drapery: 2–2.5×. Heavy or pinch-pleat: 2× is plenty. Less than 2× looks skimpy when closed.
How long should I cut each panel?
Drop = finished length + top hem/header + bottom hem. A 96 in finished panel with a 4 in header and 4 in double-fold bottom hem needs 96 + 4 + 8 = 108 in of fabric length, plus a pattern repeat allowance if any.
How do I account for a pattern repeat?
Round each cut length up to the next multiple of the pattern repeat so panels match. A 27 in repeat on a 108 in cut becomes ceiling(108 ÷ 27) × 27 = 108 in - round to 135 in if the repeat does not divide evenly.
