How This Calculator Works

A streamer's monthly income is the sum of four largely independent streams: subscriptions (recurring, but the platform takes a cut), bits or cheers (micro-tips converted at a fixed rate), direct donations or tips (usually kept in full minus payment fees), and ad revenue driven by how many ad impressions the channel serves. This tool models each separately so you can see which lever actually moves your income - for most mid-size channels subscriptions and donations dominate, while ads are a smaller, viewer-count-dependent bonus. The point is realism: a "1,000-subscriber" channel does not earn 1,000 × the sub price, because the platform keeps roughly half.

Formula / Method

Sub revenue = subscribers × sub price × streamer share (commonly 50%, sometimes 70% for larger partners). Bit revenue = bits × $0.01, the standard one-cent-per-bit payout. Donation revenue = donations entered (gross; payment processors take a few percent in practice). Ad revenue = (average viewers × stream hours ÷ 1000) × CPM, because CPM is the pay per 1,000 ad impressions and impressions scale with concurrent viewers and airtime. Total = the sum of all four; the annual figure is total × 12. All inputs are clamped to non-negative values and the sub share to 0–100%.

Worked Example

300 subs at $4.99 with a 50% share → 300 × 4.99 × 0.50 = $748.50. 40,000 bits → 40,000 × $0.01 = $400.00. Direct donations of $250.00 pass through gross. Ads at $3.50 CPM with 350 average viewers over 80 hours → (350 × 80 ÷ 1000) × 3.50 = 28 × 3.50 = $98.00. Monthly total = 748.50 + 400 + 250 + 98 = $1,496.50, or about $17,958 per year - before taxes, software, and equipment. Notice subscriptions alone are half the total while ads are under 7%.

Common Mistakes

Using the gross sub price instead of your actual share - the platform cut roughly halves sub income.

Confusing CPM (per 1,000 impressions) with per-view pay, which overstates ad revenue by a factor of ~1,000.

Counting peak viewers rather than average concurrent viewers for ad impressions.

Ignoring payment-processor and currency-conversion fees on donations and the platform's payout threshold and delay.

Forgetting that this is pre-tax, pre-expense gross - self-employment tax, software, and hardware come out of it.

Why is my real payout lower? Platform cuts, payment-processor fees, currency conversion, refunds and chargebacks, sales tax handling, and a minimum payout threshold with a delay all reduce the gross figure this tool shows - budget on the assumption that take-home is materially below gross. Is the 50% sub share fixed? No - larger partners and certain programs negotiate 70%, and prime/gifted subs can pay differently; adjust the share input to match your actual contract rather than assuming the default. How accurate is the ad estimate? Treat it as a rough ceiling: real CPM swings widely by region, season (advertiser budgets spike late in the year), ad-block rates, and how often you actually run ads, so the viewers×hours×CPM model is an order-of-magnitude guide, not a promise. Should I count peak or average viewers? Use average concurrent viewers for the ad term - peak overstates impressions badly because ads do not all fire at your single best moment.
